With the development of mass media, rewriting classics has become a hot phenomenon in the context of contemporary literature and culture. In 2016,Hogarth publishing house invited several influential novelists to reconstruct Shakespeare's plays into a contemporary fiction. This project called Hogarth Shakespeare.Compared with traditional adaptation, modernity rewriters tend to attach more importance to the contemporary significance of the works, make great innovations in the content, plot and form of expression of the story, and express their doubts about the meaning of the classical text to varying degrees.Basing on the rewriting theory and taking close reading of seven fictions of the "Hogarth Shakespeare" project as the basis, this paper reconsiders the importance and contemporary significance of modernity rewriting, and excavates its dialogical"characteristics.
