With the implementation of "go global" strategy of the Chinese culture, there has been rising interest in minor ethnic group cultures. As an important text of ethnic group studies, ethnography takes an irreplaceable position in the promotion of such cultures. How to attract more foreign readers while maximizing the preservation of minority cultural characteristics remains an issue. This report selected the first chapter of the ethnography the Fire Worship:Anthropological Research on the Mijimo Ceremony by the Axi People as the translation target. This chapter, which introduces in detail the whole process of the Mijimo ceremony, contains a large number of expressions with strong Chinese and ethnic features. At the same time, various rhetorical devices exist in the source text such as parallelism and repetition, which make the translation more difficult.Under the guidance of George Steiner's Fourfold Hermeneutic theory, the dynamic process of translation was divided into three stages:Trust,Aggression and Incorporation, and Restitution.According to the different characteristics and needs of each stage, this report chose corresponding translation strategies from the lexical, syntactic and rhetorical levels, and discussed the translation techniques adopted at different levels,so as to realize the principle of "faithful in meaning and authentic in description".Through the analysis, the author of this report found that each stage of translation was closely linked and that the translator's subjectivity had a great impact on the quality of translation. It is hoped that this report would provide new ideas for the translation of minor ethnic group study texts and contribute to the international communication of the minor ethnic group culture.
