"Myth" is a national treasure in Chinese traditional culture.In the long history of China,mythology as a concrete manifestation of Chinese cultural spirit runs through ancient and modern times.As an important carrier of mythology,sculpture art provides an important guarantee for the inheritance and development of mythology.Mythology as a subject in sculpture art promotes the development and prosperity of sculpture art.This thesis takes the mythological subject as the research object,takes the contemporary sculpture as the starting point,and takes the sculpture of Shan Hai Jing as an example,analyzes and summarizes the new form of the mythological subject in the sculpture that is traditional and different from the traditional.With the new expression,and the development and significance of the mythology in the contemporary context in the sculpture is discussed in depth.The article is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is an overview of mythology.After the simple explanation of "myth",the historical time is used as the axis to sort out the development of Chinese mythology from ancient times to modern times.It classifies and summarizes the characteristics of Chinese mythology development compared with Western mythology.Finally,it focuses on the current situation of contemporary mythology.The second chapter focuses on the relationship between myth and sculpture.It introduces the evolution of mythology in ancient sculptures and the mythological theme in contemporary sculptures with history as the axis.It focuses on the rise of the theme of Shan Hai Jing in contemporary sculpture.Causes and performance.The third chapter is the contemporary expression of the specific theme of the "Shan Hai Jing" in the sculpture.It is the key chapter of the whole thesis.The first section takes the theme of the birds in Shan Hai Jing as an example from the Three Blue Birds and Jing Wei.The three themes of reclamation and phoenix are detailed analysis of the traditional language and sculpture form of the work.In the second section,the theme of the beast is taken from the "big fish","not damn beast" and"nine-tailed fox".The starting analysis of the thematic works discusses the emotional expression and diversified performance of mythological subjects in the contemporary era.The last chapter is the significance value of the mythological theme in contemporary sculpture.It discusses and summarizes the three aspects of "supporting the development of contemporary sculpture","responding to the call of national art development policy" and "establishing national culture self-confidence".
