English grammar has always been an important and difficult point in the teaching of English grammar in junior high schools,and there have been many disputes.Some teachers attach too much importance to grammar and think that it is necessary to learn grammar well in order to learn English well.Others neglect grammar teaching in English teaching and think that grammar is not so important.Both of them are too extreme to really understand the role of English grammar in English learning.Mind Mapping has gradually become a very popular tool to cultivate divergent thinking in the 21 st century.It can connect keywords with graphics and colors,and make people understand knowledge more quickly.Many students think that grammar learning is boring and difficult to remember.Therefore,it is very important for teachers to find a suitable grammar teaching method.Mind Mapping can help students sort out and memorize knowledge points.Based on the above understanding,this study mainly focuses on the following two issues.Question 1: Can students' motivation of learning English grammar beenhanced by using Mind Mapping in grammar teaching?Question 2: Can the application of Mind Mapping to English grammarimprove students' achievements in English grammar tests?In this study,91 students from Class 3 and Class 5 of Grade 8 in Panjin No.3Junior High School were selected as subjects.The experiment lasted about four months.The grammar of teaching mainly involves the Comparative and Superlative Degree of adjectives or adverbs.Quantitative and qualitative methods such as questionnaires,tests and interviews were used in the experiment,and the data of the experimental class and the control class were analyzed by SPSS.The results show that the application of Mind Mapping in English grammar teaching in junior high schools can create a pleasant and efficient learning atmosphere for junior high school students,stimulate their motivation to learn grammar and improve their average grammar performance.At the same time,the application of Mind Mapping theory to English grammar teaching in junior high schools is only an attempt,which inevitably has some shortcomings.
