The cultural globalization trends overwhelm along with the economic globalization.Apart from the classics,many commercialized foreign books with mass readers are endeavored in seeking a way to enter a wider cultural market and for cultural output.There are many researches on foreign classic novels domestically,while on novels featured with popular items to meet readers' tastes and charged by the number of chapters,the related researches are limited.The report is based on the translation of seven chapters of Darwin's Quest.Challenges met and strategies used during the translation have been summarized to provide some references for the related translation.The objective of the novel translation is to appeal to the target readers.Centering on their reading reaction and concerning about their characteristics,the report analyzes and summarizes the translation difficulties and strategies from the lexical and levels.Three types of words without exact equivalents have been discussed in the lexical level;the strategy of amplification,omission and inversion have been adopted in the syntactic translation;replacement between synonyms and between positive words and negative words have been made in style translation.What's more,it aims to show the weakness and troubles encountered in the study,thus hopefully providing some new ideas for further research on the theory and practice of commercialized novels.
