The level of education in a country has already become one of the criteria for measuring its strength. Therefore, many scholars at home and abroad are concerned about factors affecting academic performance. After conducting a large number of studies, they found that the level of test anxiety and self-efficacy had an impact on academic performance, and studies have shown that among college students, the number of test anxiety accounts for up to 78%.This study aims to explore the relationship between test anxiety and academic achievement for college students, and to explore whether self-efficacy has a mediating effect. The study distributed questionnaires through the online social platform, and received 338 valid questionnaires filled out by college students, including 155 female students and 183 male students. The questionnaire used the academic self-efficacy questionnaire compiled by Liang Yusong and Zhou Zongkui(divided into academic efficacy and academic performance),the test anxiety scale compiled by Spielberger and the academic achievement questionnaire. The results we obtained are as follows:(1)The test anxiety of college students is generally at a medium level, and the overall anxiety level of girls is higher than that of boys, but there is no significant difference. The anxiety level of urban college students is significantly higher than that of rural areas. There is no significant difference in anxiety at the grade level.(2)The self-efficacy of college students is generally good, and the male students score higher than the female students. The male students' score higher in study ability self-efficacy,but there is no difference in study behavior self-efficacy.Total self-efficacy,study ability self-efficacy and study behavior self-efficacy are almost equal at the grades and the native places.(3)The average grade point of the college students is 3.32,and the grade points of the girls are significantly higher than that of the boys. The grade points are not significantly different between the grades and their native places.(4)The test anxiety of college students is significantly negatively correlated with the grade points(r = 0.12),and the more anxious a college student is,the lower the grade point is.The test anxiety is significantly negatively correlated with the self-efficacy(r =0.36),and the self-efficacy is significantly positively correlated with the grade point(r =0.30).(5)College students' self-efficacy has a significant mediating effect on the impact of test anxiety on academic performance, with a full mediating effect of 10%.In general, test anxiety negatively predicts academic performance by affecting students' self-efficacy.
