Reading is a complex cognitive activity.The type and quality of reading materials greatly influence the cognitive development of students.Because of the universality,connotation richness,originality and openness of literary works,they are worthy of reading.More and more attention is paid to the English teachers.Strengthening the emphasis on reading teaching of literary works in high school English reading teaching is of great significance for developing students'language ability,cultivating students'thinking quality and improving students' cultural character.Literary reading provides the material of thinking for the students'speculation.In order to understand the development of reading teaching in high school English literature,the author needs to investigate the current situation of reading teaching of literary works and teachers' understanding and views on literary reading,and investigate the problems in the process of literary reading.According to the current situation of the survey and a certain theory,the appropriate literary reading teaching strategy is proposed.In a word,the main contents of this study include the following aspects:first of all,defining the relevant concepts in the reading teaching of high school English literary works;second,Analysis of the teaching value of reading English literature in high school;then,exploring the implementation process of literature reading teaching in high school English;finally,put forward the strategy of reading teaching in high school English literature.The survey results show that most teachers and students think that reading literary works can improve their reading interest,which is a good material to improve their language and thinking ability.However,there are some problems in the process of reading teaching;first,the teachers analyze content and language in a simple way;second,the post reading activity is boring and the question is illogical;third,the cultural connotation can't be interpreted fully;fourth,the reading strategy is not infiltrated.According to the survey results,the author puts forward some specific steps of English literature reading teaching:analyzing the text during the preparation of the lesson;the text positioning target based on the academic situation;the teaching process.Then,the paper discusses the implementation strategies of literature reading teaching in high school English:firstly,combine the text context and the whole to perceive the language.Secondly is to set up the"question chain"to promote the development of thinking.Thirdly is to enrich the post-reading activities,pay attention to output expression.Fourthly,strengthen strategic awareness and enhance learning ability.Fifthly,understand cultural connotation and cultivate cultural character.Finally,appropriately select literary works to improve reading teaching efficiency.
