More Discussion On The Nature Of Interrogative Sentences In Symmetry Inscription

The sentence nature of oracle bone inscriptions involves the overall understanding of inscriptions and the interpretation of Shang civilization.At present,there are three main types of opinions on oracle bone inscriptions,oracular sentence is a question,the sentence is not a question,and the sentence is partly a question and partly a non-question.In this paper,symmetry inscriptions,one of the important types of imperative rhetoric,is taken as the main object of discussion.In view of the controversial sentence categories of symmetry inscriptions in single sentence pattern and symmetry inscriptions in compound sentence pattern,the structural form,specific context and semantic understanding are studied.On the formal level,symmetry inscriptions have two characteristics: symmetric distribution and logical negation.The nature of symmetric "group" and the uncertainty of the juxtaposition of positive and negative make the duality have a strong questioning nature.From the perspective of content,this paper further analyzes the micro-context of symmetry inscriptions in single sentence pattern and symmetry inscriptions in compound sentence pattern by combining semantics and pragmatics,such as the content and the presupposition of the subject of chastity and divination,and so on.Among them,symmetry inscriptions in formal " is discussed emphatically,and the focus and cause of this kind of symmetry inscriptions are further analyzed.From the above discussion,we think that it is appropriate to read the sentence as a question,which may fit the form and content of symmetry inscriptions.At the same time,the view of symmetry inscriptions as interrogative sentence supports the view of oracular inscriptions as interrogative sentence.The introduction mainly reviews the research results and arguments on the sentence nature of oracular inscriptions.The development of the concept of symmetry inscription is analyzed and defined.The purpose,significance,content,scope,ideas and methods of the research are briefly introduced.The first chapter briefly summarizes the composition and classification of symmetry inscription.In the first section,symmetry inscription are divided into two categories: simple sentence and compound sentence.The second section counts the number and distribution of two categories from the perspectives of stages,negative words and so on.The second chapter briefly analyzes the relationship between the form of symmetry inscription and the nature of doubt from the form of the composition of symmetry inscription from the form of symmetric distribution and the logical form of negation.The third chapter differentiates and analyzes the three kinds of sentence patterns of "affirmative non-question sentence",from the angles of rhetoric,presupposition and so on.The fourth chapter discusses the three main forms of {(~)A;(~)B} complex sentence The first and second sections start with a group of controversial {A,B;~A,~B} pairs,discuss them from the perspectives of rhetoric,context and so on,and further analyze the "symmetry inscriptions in formal".The third section analyzes the types of chastity sentences in the form of {A,B;A,~B}.The fourth section differentiates and analyzes the sentence types of {A,B;~A,B}.The fifth section distinguishes symmetry inscriptions from other complex sentence patterns with similar forms.The fifth chapter mainly discusses the focus of the question of "symmetry inscriptions in formal" and the possible reasons for the existence of "symmetry inscriptions in formal".The first section attempts to analyze the identification of the interrogative focus of the inscriptions from a pragmatic point of view,so as to provide a certain interpretation path for distinguishing "symmetry inscriptions in formal".The second section discusses the possible reasons for the existence of the inscriptions.The epilogue briefly summarizes the contents of chapters above,and points out that it is appropriate to read symmetry inscription as interrogative sentence.And it supports the view of oracular inscription as interrogative sentence.Finally,it also points out the areas that need to be improved and expanded in the study.
