The Research On The Chinese Summarized Anaphora

Since the 70 s of the last century,anaphora has become one of the central issues in linguistics.Although scholars at home and abroad have analyzed and explored this linguistic phenomenon from various perspectives,there is a lack of systematic research on the special anaphora—the summarized anaphora.Therefore,this paper aims to select 100 articles from the People's Daily special edition of People's Current Review on the basis of previous studies.Based on the facts of Chinese discourse,we analyze the definition,types and formal features of summarized anaphora,the complex anaphoric relationship between antecedent and anaphora and its functions.The article is comprised of five parts.The introduction mainly points out the object,the related research status,the methods,and the meanings of the research in this paper.At the same time,we explain the sources of the corpus.The first chapter is the Definition,Types and Formal Characteristics of Chinese Summarized Anaphora.Firstly,we define what is the summarized anaphora,then we analyse the types and formal features of the summarized anaphora,including the types and formal characteristics of antecedents,as well as the types,formal features and syntactic functions of anaphora.Chapter two is a detailed analysis of the relationship between antecedent and anaphora of the summarized anaphora.We find that there is a complex anaphoric relationship between the antecedent and anaphora of the summarized anaphora.According to the different objects of anaphora,the summarized anaphora can be semantically classified into four types.At the same time,we try to analyze the accessibility between the antecedent and anaphora of the summarized anaphora by using the Accessibility Theory of cognitive linguistics.Finally,we analyse and discusse the form selection of the summarized anaphora.Chapter three mainly analyses the function of the Chinese summarized anaphora from the perspective of three meta-functions of the systemic functional linguistics.We find that the Chinese summarized anaphora also has conceptual function,interpersonal function and textual function,but different formats of anaphora have different functions.Finally,we also analyze some special examples by contrast.In conclusion,we summarize the viewpoints of this paper,and point out the existing problems in this study,which will provide some references for the further in-depth study of Chinese summarized anaphora.
