“Exotic” Perspective:A Study Of Modern Chinese Literature And Culture(MCLC)

Overseas Chinese modern literary criticism is an essential part of Chinese modern literary criticism,and overseas academic journals are a pivotal carrier of overseas literary criticism.The study of literary criticism from an exotic perspective is a significant way and reference for us to study overseas Chinese literary criticism.Based on close reading of texts,this paper focuses on the most important North American modern literary criticism Journal Modern Chinese Literature and Culture in the second half of the twentieth century.It systematically shows the translation,introduction and criticism activities of western scholars on the academic front of Modern Chinese Literature and Culture since the 1980 s.Western scholars have different understandings and interpretative perspectives of modern and contemporary Chinese literature,thus revealing the achievements of Modern Chinese Literature and Culture in the overseas dissemination of modern Chinese literature and its significance in the history of modern Chinese and Western literary exchanges.The specific chapters are as follows:The first chapter is the introduction.This paper elaborates on the achievements of the studies of modern and contemporary Chinese literature and culture in the world context,modern literature and culture English periodicals as "forgotten literary history" and academic journal "Modern Chinese Literature and Culture".The second chapter is the basic introduction of the journal.This paper reviews the history of the publication,introduces in detail the background of the editorial board,the column setting of the publication,and the basic situation of the researchers and research objects.The third chapter is the theme analysis of the text.According to the theme of periodical criticism articles,the text is divided into four aspects: politics and aesthetics,feminism,urban and rural areas and cross-straits,and visual China.The last chapter is the dissemination and acceptance of publications.This paper reflects on the dissemination of the Journal "Modern Chinese Literature and Culture" abroad through the field theory,explores the influence of "Modern Chinese Literature and Culture" at home from the aspects of research,translation and debate among Chinese scholars on overseas research,and reflects on the theoretical resources of "Modern Chinese Literature and Culture" from the perspective of comparison and dialogue between Chinese and Western literary theories,and also from the perspective of overseas modern Chinese literature and culture.The significance of this study is illustrated from the perspective of the history of literary studies.
