A Study Of JingHuaYuan From The Perspective Of Narratology

Jing Hua Yuan is a full-length novel written by Li Ruzhen in the Qing Dynasty.The whole book is a series of stories in which hundreds of females are shackled as the main line.This thesis uses narrative theory to analyze and study the narrative art of this novel,and intends to conduct a preliminary study on Jing Hua Yuan from three aspects: narrative point of view,narrative time and space,and narrative structure,and try to explore the characteristics of Chinese classical novel narratology in this case.The thesis is divided into three parts: introduction,body and conclusion.The introduction part combs the research status of Jing Hua Yuan and the related theories of narratology,and points out the research methods and purposes.The first chapter discusses in detail the narrative point of view of Jing Hua Yuan.The narrative point of view consists of a narrator and a narrative perspective.The narrators in Jing Hua Yuan can be divided into four categories: historical officials,storytellers,story characters,and the white monkey.Each category has its own characteristics.However,the narrative perspective in the novel is mainly divided into omniscient perspective and limited perspective.The second chapter mainly analyzes and discusses the narrative time and space of Jing Hua Yuan.Different time series such as flashback,pre-narrative and plain-synchronization combine the past,present and future of the story,and the time-space forms such as omission,pause,and scene make the novel tense or relaxed.At the same time,the fusion of historical space and fantasy space is also conducive to the promotion of the plot of the novel,the formation of character,and the deepening of the theme of the novel.The third chapter expounds the narrative structure of Jing Hua Yuan.The most prominent feature of the novel in the narrative structure is that it reveals the deep narrative structure through the surface narrative structure of the text,and in this process reveals the author's ideology and values.The conclusion part reviews the inheritance and development of the research results of Jing Hua Yuan from the perspective of narratology,It sums up the inseparable causal connection between the narration framework of Jing Hua Yuan and the traditional Confucian thinking and Utopia spiritual pursuits,and clarifies the uniqueness of Jing Hua Yuan in narratology and the inadequacies of this paper.Through these three levels of analysis and discussion,this paper attempts to promote the narratological research of Jing Hua Yuan and contributes to the narratological study of Chinese classical novels.
