Many scholors have realised the narrative relationship between The Historis Memoirs and The Outlaws of the Marsh from the Ming Dynasty, but most of these opinions are reasonless comments.Using the principal theory of the narratology we make a comparison between two works in narrative time, narrative point of view and narrative structure in this paper.First, from the aspect of narrative time we can draw a conclusion that The Outlaws of the Marsh almost inherits the narrative forms of The Historis Memoirs and this is also the principal narrative forms of Chinese ancient novels.Second, from the aspect of narrative point of view we find that in The Historis Memoirs there is no psychological description because of the character of historicalworks. There is a special point of view-Dramatic Point of View in The Outlaws ofthe Marsh, but it has no Objective Omniscincent Point of View because of the feature of the Shuo-Shu Art.Third, from the aspect of narrative structure we can find that The Historis Memoirs has great effect on The Outlaws of the Marsh, but the latter's structure is more perfect because during the period of becoming a whole successful works the writers manufactured it many times and naturally the artistry of Chinese ancient novels have influence on this artistic manufacture. From the analyses of these we can draw a conclusion that the narrative features of The Outlaws of the Marsh mainly come from the influence of The Historis Memoirs. In the other hand the stories of The Outlaws of the Marsh originate from the folk Shuo-Shu Art. Certainly the development of the narrative artistry of Chinese ancient novels is an other important essence. In a word the narrative origins of The Outlaws of the Marsh are Shuo-Shu Art and the biographies such as The Historic Memoirs which is the main part.Obviously the comparison of narrative relationship not only aims at the two great works but do a favor for the study of narrative artistry between Chinese ancient novels and biographies.
