English writing is an important part in English teaching.However,some problems do exist in process.Most of teachers usually adopt the product-based approach in teaching,which emphasizes and highlights the writing products while neglecting the use of lexis,syntax and the whole text.Therefore,it is really nessessary to explore an effective English writing teaching method.The scaffolding instruction in constructivism encourages the subjectivity of students when teachers act as organizers,directors and promoters in learning.The scaffolding instruction has been used in the writing class of an junior high school to probe the influence on the students' writing ability under the scaffolding instruction.Three questions have been raised to be discussed:1.What is the impact of the scaffolding instruction on the use of lexis of junior high school students?2.What is the impact of the scaffolding instruction on the use of syntax of junior high school students?3.What is the impact of the scaffolding instruction on the text writing ability of junior high school students?Two natural classes in grade 9 of a junior high school in Yueyang were selected,and16-week scaffolding wrting teaching experiments were conducted.The pre-tests and pro-tests have been conducted in both classes by using SPSS23.0 to analyze the data.Besides,the pro-tests' interviews have played as the supplementary specification for the above three questions.The results of research show that through the writing training under the scaffolding instruction,students' vocabulary has boomed in writing to describe something in various ways.The frequency of using clauses has rised and their views can be expressed in some complicated sentences.Meanwhile,the text structure is much clearer and the logic is much more coherent.Thus,it is effective of the scaffolding instruction in enhancing students' English writing ability.This would provide some references for teaching English writing.
