English writing is a good way to assess the student’s comprehensive ability of English learning.It can comprehensively evaluate a student’s level of English learning,and it is also the result and embodiment of the student’s language output.Hence,for the high school student,s English learning at present,the training for English writing is very imortant,especially for training the student’s ability of using English writing strategies,which is the important stage of writing exercise.At present,the research on writing strategies is quite mature,but there are little researches studying on the writing strategy ability of high school students,especially for the researches based on the China,s Standards of English Language Ability(the CSE),which is quite few.This study takes the three writing strategies of Planning Strategies(PS),Formulation Strategies(FS),Revision Strategies(RS)in the CSE as the theoretical basis,and selects descriptors in the writing strategy subscale of the CSE for the level 4 English Chinese learners as the questionnaire,eombining with the interview and students’essays,and taking all the students and teachers of the Grade 2 of senior high school in Wuhan University Attached Middle School as the research subjects,in order to investigate the current situation of high school student’s ability of using writing strategies.This paper studies student’s writing strategy ability from different angles,in order to help high school students to correctly understand their real ability of using writing strategies and improve their ability of using writing strategies.At the same time,it also helps teacher to have a correct understanding to students?real level of writing strategy ability and improve their teaching methods based on the student’s real level of English writing ability at present.This study mainly explores the following three questions:(1)What is the current situation of high school student’s writing strategy ability like based on the writing strategy ability subscale in the CSE?(2)According to the status quo,what problems of high school students have in using three writing strategies of PS,FS and RS?(3)From the perspectives of students and teachers respectively,how to solve these problems?Findings of this study can be summarized as the following:1.Taking descriptive sentences in thew riting strategy subscale of the CSE for level 4 English learners as standards,which shows that the current situation of high school students ability of using writing strategies has not reached the standard,whether in terms of overall writing strategy ability or from the PS,FS and RS these three strategies ability.2.Students have the following problems in using writing strategies,especially when students used PS,FS and RS these three strategies:(1)Teachers rarely have specialized writing training to train students,capacity of using writing strategies,and students do not have a strong conscious of using these writing strategies to improve their writing ability.(2)Both teachers and students failed to have a correct understanding to the students’real writing strategy ability,so that the teachers’ teaching activities are not suitable for the student,s actual English level,and the students’ writing level has not been greatly improved.3.According to some problems in the above during investigating the high school student’s ability of using writing strategies,there are some solutions for current high school student’s English writing study and teachers’writing teaching from the perspective of student and teacher.From the perspective of the teacher:(1)Teachers should strengthen students’conscious for using of writing strategies through some relevant writing trainings;(2)Teachers should design appropriate activities for training students’ writing strategy ability according to the students’ actual level of writing strategy ability.From the perspective of the student:(1)Students should improve their ability of writing planning,formulation and revision through strengthening English writing practices;(2)Students should use writing strategies consciously in their essay to improve their ability of using writing strategy.
