The teaching of writing has always been challenging in English teaching,so how to reduce students’ writing errors and enhance their writing ability has become an issue which has aroused great concern among the teachers.At present,the English writing ability of high school students is not optimistic.On the one hand,students’ writing level is not up to the standard.Students often make all kinds of errors when they write.On the other hand,teachers and students do not pay enough attention to writing errors.Therefore,it is necessary for teachers to collect and analyze students’ writing texts and identify the types and causes of writing errors to improve writing teaching.As an important part of language learning strategies,English writing strategies are the methods and means that learners consciously adopt in the process of English writing to help them achieve their writing goals.Based on error analysis and other relevant theories,this study adopts corpus research method and questionnaire method to analyze errors in English writing and puts forward teaching suggestions,aiming at answering the following three questions:1.What is the situation of senior high school students’ English writing errors?2.How do senior high school students use English writing strategies?3.Is there a correlation between the types of English writing errors and the use of writing strategies in high school students? If Yes,what is it?300 English compositions are randomly selected from Harbin No.1 High School,and 276 writing samples are collected in total.A small corpus is established based on the writing samples.The corpus retrieval software Ant Conc4.2.0 is used to analyze the samples of students’ English compositions.In addition,descriptive analysis and Pearson correlation analysis are conducted on the questionnaire data with the help of statistical software to explore high school students’ English writing errors,the use of writing strategies and their correlation.The research findings are as follows:1.The top five English writing mistakes in the senior high school are phrasal verb mistakes,syntax mistakes,collocation mistakes,collocation mistakes and noun phrase mistakes.2.High school students are generally making an average use of English writing strategies.In terms of the six specific English writing strategies,the most frequently used one is language means strategy,followed by organization strategy and dictionary search strategy,all of which are moderately used.Resource management strategy,social/emotional strategy and remedy strategy are less frequently used.3.There is a significant negative correlation between English writing errors and six dimensions of writing strategies.According to the results of the analysis,this thesis puts forward feasible teaching suggestions of enriching resources and strengthening strategy training.
