Today,with the development of the world,Chinese need to learn advanced science and technology from Western countries and promote the international cultural exchange.Thus,it's necessary to learn English.English,as an important course in compulsory education in China,is helpful to improve people's quality,their creative ability and intercultural communication ability.Nowadays,the main way for Chinese students,both in primary and middle school,to acquire English is in the class.And the main medium for teachers to teach is the textbook.Therefore,textbooks play a very important role in SLA.For second language learners,the vocabulary is the basic part in learning.Teachers should have deep understanding of the vocabulary in textbooks to improve their English vocabulary teaching.Corpus linguistics offers a new tool for language research and its researches are reliable.Go for It is used in junior high school in most provinces.Its influence is wide.The author conducted a research on vocabulary in Go for It by Range.The vocabulary is analyzed from three aspects---the total number of vocabulary,the distribution of vocabulary and the re-occurrence rate of both high frequency words and low frequency words.From the taken in Nation's three word lists,the author will find whether the total number of vocabulary covers the daily English vocabulary.Then compared with the fifth level of vocabulary in Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards,the author will find whether students can meet the standards by learning Go for It.The TTR is used to analyze the influence of words in each textbook on the difficulty of text.The smaller the TTR is,the easier it is for students to learn.From analyzing the word frequency,the author will find if it's conform the rules of learners' vocabulary acquisition.After analyzing,the findings of this study are as follows:1.The total number of textbook vocabulary is much more than the curriculum required,which adds teachers'and students' burden.2.the distribution in each textbook is not reasonable.It shows "(?)".The TTR in 7A is much lager than the other four textbooks.3.The distraction of vocabulary isn't balanced in each textbook.Some words recurrence in just one textbook.This causes a big obstacle to students vocabulary acquisition.But the textbooks provide plenty of high frequency vocabulary.They are convenient for students to further study in the future.All in all,the vocabulary in Go for It have a high requirement on students.So,teachers need to think and use a variety of vocabulary teaching methods.On the basis of the above findings,this paper puts forward some suggestions on the teaching of English vocabulary in junior high school.1.Teachers should teach students word families instead of teaching single type of words.2.The teachers should pay attention to the high frequency words,especially those which have low The re-occurrence rate.3.Teachers are encouraged to write some specific book to meet students' needs.4.Teachers should assess the level of students' vocabulary reasonably.
