Learning-centeredness,Student-oriented Teaching and the Systematicness of the Classroom Activities are the vital basis of the View on Learning through Activities which are attached great importance to in the Senior High School English Curriculum 2017.As an important part of English teaching,the lessons about reading plays a crucial role in developing "key competences".Therefore,the effectiveness of the design of the activities in reading teaching lays great influence on the teaching effects.Despite the significance of Learning-centeredness,the research on this aspect is far from enough compared with that on student-centeredness,especially in regard to the design of the activities in reading lessons,so it is quite necessary to do research on the Principles of Activity Design in Reading Lessons Based on Learning-centeredness Theory.Based on the Constructive Learning theory,Theory of Cognitive Learning and Theory of Humanism on Learning,the author carried out an action plan in a key high school in Jiangsu Province.The research is intended to answer the following questions:1.What elements should teachers consider when designing the activities?2.What principles should the teachers stick to when designing the activities?3.What are the ways of assessment?4.Whether the design of activities based on Learning-centeredness and the principles can stimulate the students to participate in the English study actively and spontaneously and improve English study?Author conducted surveys and interviewed students for their opinions on the problems existing in reading teaching and the effectiveness of the activities.In the process of the action research,the author found that the activities is suppoed to be student-oriented,inspiring,interesting,context-based,sequential,welI-organised.The teachers should adjust their previous plan according to the results of the worksheet(for the sake of preview)where students will not only answer the questions raised by the teacher but also create their own questions.Therefore,the teachers will know the common difficulties the students meet and provide the students with the opportunities to carry out independent and collaborative study accordingly.The process evaluation such as peer assessment should be adopted to arouse students interest and promote their involvement in the activities.With the guidance of the teachers,the key competences will hopefully be cultivated in the intergrated and interrelated activities gradually.The professional development of the teachers' will also be realized.According to the action research,the author holds the belief that the learning-centered design of the learning activites in reading lessons will promote the cultivation of the key competences.However,there are some limitations in the action research such as the limited number of samples,the proficiency of the questionnaires and the interviews as well as the insufficient ways of data collection.The action research is aimed to supply some empirical evidence for the relevant research and promote the development of the author theoretically and practically.The author hopes that this research can make certain contributions to the English reading teaching.
