Gabriela Mistral is the first Latin American writer who won the 1945 Nobel Prize in literature.Mistral has experienced many ups and downs in her life. Her poetry creation also shows different characteristics with the change of her personal experience. From focusing on her own personal emotional experience to turning her eyes to oppressed people, from personal sorrow to humanistic love.Whatever stage of life, nature has never been out of Mistral's sight. At the same time, although Mistral spent most of her life abroad, the nature in her eyes and writings always belongs to the American land and has a strong American color. This paper mainly combines Mistral's creation with the theory of natural literature, studies her natural poems through close reading, and strives to deepen the understanding of Gabriela Mistral and her works from the perspective of "nature".This paper consists of three parts:introduction, body and conclusion. The introduction part combs the life and creative process of Gabriela Mistral, introduces the research history and current situation of Mistral's works at home and abroad, and expounds the origin and significance of this paper. The main body consists of four chapters. The first chapter mainly introduces the related content of natural literature theory, including the concept and characteristics, the origin and development of natural literature, providing the theoretical basis for the following analysis and elaboration. While introducing the relevant theoretical content, this paper also analyses the possibility of studying Gabriela Mistral's poetry from the perspective of natural literature. On the basis of natural literature theory, the second chapter explains the poetic features of Mistral's natural poems from three aspects:seeking spiritual comfort from the wilderness, rooting in the American land, and natural and simple literary language. These three characteristics coincide with the characteristics of natural literature. The third chapter mainly analyses several typical images commonly used in Mistral's natural poems:the earth as the incarnation of the mother of nature, the rose as the symbol of all good things, the mountain and the sea as the reference of different personalities. From Mistral's selection and application of images,we can also see her tenderness and love for nature.Chapter Four analyses the origin of Mistral's natural poems and some enlightenment to the contemporary era from her natural poems.Mistral suffered a lot in the world, especially in her childhood, this makes her have a different sense of closeness to nature, which has a profound impact on her natural poetry creation. In Mistral's writings, naturally already exists like her brothers and friends. This is the same as the harmony between man and nature advocated by natural literature. The concluding part synthesizes the above contents and makes a brief summary of the whole article. At present, there is still much room for development in the study of Gabriela Mistral at home and abroad. The author hopes to analyze Gabriela Mistral's natural poems from a new and unique angle of view, using the relevant theories of natural literature,so as to provide a new perspective for Mistral's research.
