The Paradox Of Subject

The subject problem is always an inevitable topic in the study of philosophy and literature.As a legendary postmodern thinker in the 20th century,Michel Foucault covered a wide range of fields,while the concept of subject,as the clue behind Foucault's complex theoretical system,is one of the most important aspect of Foucaulfs thoughts,which deserves more attention and research.This paper tries to sort out Foucault's main ideas in the early stage,and mainly discusses the "paradox" of Foucault's subject concepts in two different theoretical spaces from the subject of discourse and the subject of power.The first chapter introduces the reason and research method of the thesis.The second chapter makes a brief introduction to the concept of traditional subject and Foucault's subject,and points out the obvious differences between them.The third chapter discusses Foucaulfs understanding of the subject in the field of discourse.From the formation of discourse and statement to the definition of literature and author,Foucault subverted the continuous history by means of the specific way in which knowledge is constructed through the objectification of the discourse subject The fourth chapter discusses Foucault's understanding of subject in power theory.Foucault turned from discourse analysis to power analysis,and realized the duality of the subject of power through the comparison of the definition and function of power,which gained subjectivity because of consciousness and action and objectivity because of control and taming,and made the game of truth come true.The fifth chapter summarizes and analyzes Foucault's concept of subject in the field of discourse and power,and finds that in the same theory,subject has two sides of subjectification and objectification,and the same subject also has the practice of objectification."Paradox" exists in Foucault's concept of subject.From different theoretical systems of Foucault,this paper concludes that,from beginning to end,Foucault is neither deconstructing the subject,nor constructing a new subject,nor even carrying out the operation of de-subjectification.His understanding of subject is to develop the objectified side of the subject,so that the subject itself contains the duality of the subject and the object,so that the paradox of subject and subjection exist in the subject at the same time.
