Research On Social Morality From The Perspective Of Virtue Ethics

Social morality is an important category in the field of moral life,it constitutes the basic content of the civic morality construction of Chinese socialism with professional ethics,family virtues and individual qualities.As a universal moral rule,social morality involves every aspect of social life and it has a profound impact on the development of individuals and society.Social morality has been improved greatly and the development of civic morality has shown a positive trend by decades of efforts in china's reform and opening up,However,with the development of society,open public living space and close interpersonal relationships make the current social moral environment more complex,and the negative phenomena in the field of social morality are on the rise.These bad phenomena which permeate the relationship among man and man,man and society,and man and nature,reveal that current social morality is facing a serious development problem,that is,the practice subject of social morality only passively accepts the constraints of external rules rather than form a consciousness of consciously observing social morality.Compared with laws and regulations,social morality is not compulsory so that people needn't pay more price for breaking it.Its operation depends on the consciousness of moral subject,if the moral subject lacks the consciousness of consciously observing social morality for a long time,they won't regulate their behavior strictly according to the requirements of social morality in moral practice.Social morality will lose its utility and fall into its own development predicament.In order to solve the problem of social morality,and then break the development dilemma of social morality,we can start from virtues of moral subject,virtue ethics is a kind of ethical theory that pays attention to the quality of moral subject,which can provide appropriate theoretical guidance for solving the current social morality problem.Virtue ethics agree the idea that moral subject must firstly abide by the external behavior norms,but it also emphasizes the fact that it is very important to keep internal virtue and consciousness of self-discipline for moral subject,that is to say,the requirements and expectations of the social morality for moral subject is in line with the opinion of virtue ethics.Although the governance of social morality must resort to the heteronomy stage,but to enhance thedevelopment level of social morality,we should help moral subject to change the observation of social morality from the heteronomy's behavior to the autonomy's behavior,and realize the unity of heteronomy and autonomy in moral practice.Enhancing the responsibilities of moral subject to society and promoting the harmonious development of society.
