As a treasure of Chinese traditional culture, calligraphy has a long and profound history of evolution, which has been closely related to our daily life, instead of merely being as an art form existing in our research and exhibition.Since characters has been used to record and transmit information, which in itself has profound historical significance.Meanwhile,in the development of history, calligraphy has constituted the category of the Chinese art theory together with other forms of traditional Chinese culture, such as painting, literature and music, playing a relatively crucial role in it as well.Formed in the late Warring States and flourished in the Han Dynasty, official script has played an important part in the development of calligraphy. It was simplified from seal script and broke through its constraints in character structure and writing, which formed a connecting link between the preceding and following characters.Among all the works,Stele of Cao Quan is one of the representative works spreading far and wide, well known for its elegant and varied style as well as the flexible and well balanced structure, mostly favored by calligraphers in ancient times for its pristine flavor. Therefore, since the popularity of inscription in the Qing Dynasty, official script has regained its praise among calligraphers, becoming a model of calligraphy learning and creation.During the same period,a great number of calligraphers took the example of Stele of Cao Quan for their creation, not only in the breakthrough in its artistic form, but also in improvement of the writing quality. It encourages me to think about the daily writing and creation of Stele of Cao Quan based on the theory of Chinese art. With the rapid development of society in science and technology, brushes are no longer the most commonly used tool in our daily writing, due to which, the art of calligraphy has been separated from the daily writing gradually. In addition, the artistic creation of calligraphy has been mostly taken as art in the exhibition hall, which has grown to be a kind of art works dependent on exhibition hall. That is why we come to think whether the daily writing could be still existing as a form of artistic creation of calligraphy and artistic expression under this circumstances. This paper analyzes the aesthetic connotations together with its succession and development within Stele of Cao Quan, and traces the origin of the official script, the daily writing and its development process, through the methods of literature study and experience summarizing.Further more,it aims to innovate on the basis of learning from the predecessors, and apply the research results in the current creation.
