On Progressiveness Of Historical Laws

Since the birth of the human society,countless thinkers have never stopped thinking and exploring the history of human society.At first,human's understanding of nature and society was vague.With the development of natural science,human's understanding of nature has gradually deepened and grasped many natural laws.However,human history is different from nature.Nature can be studied under relatively simple and controllable conditions,and human can make scientific analysis and prediction of various natural phenomena,but human social history always hangs over all kinds of complicated historical phenomena,filled with many seemingly accidental historical events,and people's will and ideas always have an impact on history.Therefore,in the process of the development of human social history,whether there are historical laws and what are historical laws are often the focus of controversy in the study of social history.Before the birth of Marxist view of history,the field of social history was dominated by idealism for a long time.Many materialist philosophers,while adhering to the materialist position in the natural field,retreated to idealism when they entered the field of social history.Marxism recogynizes the existence of historical laws and starts from the practice of human beings,creating a historical materialism and revealing the laws of human social development.By observing and studying the development of social history from the viewpoint of materialism and dialectics,Marx has come to the conclusion that history is bound to progress.However,many Marxist theoretical researchers often connect the historical law with the inevitable progress of history without thinking,and seldom ask why history is inevitable progress and why social history under the control of historical laws will show a continuous upward trend.This thesis starts from clarifying the historical law and its related concepts,and carries out research on the above problems on the basis of grasping the basic concepts.Recognizing the existence of historical laws is the premise of studying the characteristics of historical laws.According to the division proposed by British historical philosopher Walsh in"Philosophy of History—an Introduction"(1951),the"philosophy of history”is divided into”speculative philosophy of history"and,analytical or critical philosophy of history".Speculative historical philosophy mostly admits the existence of historical laws,while analytical or critical historical philosophy generally denies the existence of historical laws.The historical materialism established by Marx and Engels has fundamentally overcome the theoretical defects of modern historical philosophy and realized great changes in the concept of history.Marxism recognizes the existence of historical laws,and reveals the most basic law of human historical development,that is,the law of production relations must be suitable for the state of productive forces and the law of superstructure must be suitable for the state of economic base.This is a highly generalized abstract expression of the basic laws of history.Although in the actual historical law,the basic laws of history will have specific and historical forms,but they are all special manifestations of the basic laws of history.The author believes that the general trend of inevitable progress in history orig,inates from the progressiveness inherent in the historical laws.Therefore,this thesis mainly analyzes the performance,formation and function of the historical laws,and demonstrates the procgressiveness of the historical laws.The laws of history are progressive,but this does not mean that the development of history will manifest itself as a consistent straight forward movement,but will show a spiraling movement,which requires us to correctly view the twists and turns in historical development.The criticism of Popper's anti-historicism and Fukuyama's"the end of history"will help us deepen our understanding of Marxist historical laws,historical materialism should always be perfected and developed in the concrete and historical environment and in the continuous practice.Based on the progressiveness of the historical laws,it helps us to grasp the historical laws from a multidimensional perspective in understanding.This argumentation also fully demonstrates the value of the times of Marx's" two inevitability"thought.Through the analysis of the law of history,it can also help us to have a deeper insicght into the complexity of social and historical evolution.Whether in theory or in practice,it is of great significance and value to study and demonstrate the progressiveness of historical laws.
