Meeting Material

Artistic works on life theme have always been the objects that artists are enthusiastic to express via various painting media.Different from the other chemical pigments,rock color material consisting of natural mineral substance,sandstone and soil,which is not only painting pigment,but also earth substance,with unique feature of essence and natural color.Rock color material has a cyclical physical property,sharing the same cycle with human life and even universe life,and sharing the close relationship of reciprocal transformation with each other.This paper is written from the viewpoint of "meeting material",proposed by art theorist Mr.Niu Kecheng,tries to combine with the Egyptian thought "Life Eternity",Taoist thought "Life Immortality" and Buddhist thought "A Circle of Guilt",observes and discusses the relationship with rock color.It sets its perspective on artworks which express life theme with rock color material in Chinese and Western tombs and religious murals,to study the material presentation,color composition and semantic expression,as well as the enlightenment and relevance to my own artistic creation.
