If painting deviates from or abandons observation, even if the formal language is rich,it will become lifeless. At this time, some painters began to examine themselves, and with new perspectives and ideas launched the observation of the object. This new perspective and thought comes from the painter's new understanding and Inspiration of things, which is closely related to Western phenomenology.Modernist philosophy supports the development of modernist painting, while phenomenology flourished and prevailed in Europe in the twentieth century. The prevalence and development of phenomenology provide professional philosophical guidance and academic theoretical basis for the painting theory of concrete expression painting. The most representative representation painting was originally used by French art critic Claire to summarize the professional painters who focused on the real things and the visual reality and spiritual world. The manifestation of painting is the artist's perception of real things in visual cognition. Its academic basis is Husserl's phenomenology, which plays an important role in modern western philosophy. In modern painting, the spatial problems involved in the representation of painting more intuitively reflect this point. The painting theory of figurative expression painting combines phenomenological methodology and reveals the essence of figurative expression painting art through the combination of philosophy and painting. This paper mainly discusses the ambiguity of visual space in figurative painting. The "third space" produced by the blending of "ambiguity" visual space and rationality and sensibility.Firstly, from the ancient Greek painting space and Renaissance painting space, the "real space" under the control of rationality is analyzed, and its rational analysis is carried out. Then it analyses the transformation of visual space of modern painting from rational space to perceptual space. Then it analyses the relationship between Merleau Ponty's body theory and figurative expression painting from the perspective of phenomenology. On this basis,it analyses the transformation of visual space through the works of representativefigures of figurative expression painting.Through the understanding and exploration of spatial expression since the development of concrete performance painting, this paper explores the current significance and possibility of spatial expression of painting, and provides a more diversified way of viewing for people.
