Rejuvenating the country with science and technology and education is a major strategy of our country.Modernization of education is the basic work of building socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.Under the background that the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China with Xi Jinping as the Core actively promote the educational reform in the new era,it is particularly necessary to deeply analyze and summarize the experience and lessons of the educational reform in modern China under the guidance of Marxism.This paper centers on the Houzhuang Diary(1888-1942),written by Liu Shaokuan(1867-1942),a representative educational sage in modern Wenzhou,and takes his educational reform thought and practice as a study case.On the basis of discussing the general thinking of Liu Shaokuan's and Wenzhou's educational reform in modern times,this paper systematically analyses the three major changes of Liu Shaokuan's educational thought,his experience in investigating education in Japan,his local educational practice and its realistic influence,and then discusses the interactive relationship between modern Chinese educational reform and local society.The paper mainly analyses three backgrounds of Liu Shaokuan's educational thought transformation: one is the influence of Chinese traditional education mode on Liu Shaokuan's educational idea;the other is the situation of domestic trouble and foreign invasion on Liu Shaokuan's educational idea transformation in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China;the third is the impact and reconstruction of Liu Shaokuan's investigation experience in Japan and western educational idea on Liu Shaokuan's educational idea.Based on Houzhuang Diary and Liu Shaokuan's experience in Japanese educational investigation,the paper discusses the motivation,course of Liu Shaokuan's Japanese experience and the main content of his book "A Study of Dongying outlook" written after his return to China.Focusing on Liu Shaokuan's specific educational practice,including his early involvement in old-style private school education,actively establishing Pingyang County School,actively assisting in the preparation of Wenzhou branch of Academic Affairs,acting as the school supervisor of Wenzhou Prefecture School,and his specific measures,achievements and influence in reforming education.Discussing the practical significance and Enlightenment of Liu Shaokuan's educational reform,including training a large number of outstanding talents,reforming educational content,changing educational methods and promoting the historical process of Wenzhou's institutionalization of education.Through the study of Liu Shaokuan's educational reform in modern Wenzhou,on the one hand,it is helpful for us to summarize the law of educational development in modern Wenzhou,to reflect on the development process of modern education,and to learn from history;on the other hand,it is helpful for us to re-examine the relationship between educational culture and social development in China,and to promote the further integration of Marxism and Chinese education.It will inject new vitality into socialist education with Chinese characteristics,lead Chinese education to a new era and a new journey,and provide theoretical reference for training successors of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.
