Alcohol,as an addictive substance, has multiple effects on multiple systems, cognition, and behavior,as well as various psychological and social problems.Vision is one of the most important ways for humans to interact with the environment and it is important to understand the impact of alcohol on the visual system.Previous studies have focused on the effects of alcohol on visual perception and visual working memory in static scenes. The effects of alcohol on the visual system in dynamic scenes are uncertain.People need to deal with a large amount of dynamic visual information in social life.Exploring the influence of alcohol on the visual working memory of the motion object in dynamic scenes has important theoretical and practical significance, which can fill up the gap in the field of alcohol and working memory research, and help to further understand the relationship between alcohol and visual working memory. At the same time,it is valuable for improving the understanding of safe driving, enhancing safety awareness and setting standards for drinking and driving punishment. In this study, three experiments were tested to investigate the acute alcohol effect on visual working memory of direction of motion object in dynamic scene.Experiment 1 used the change detection task in dynamic scenes to examine the acute alcohol effect on the memory of the moving object.Experiment 2,by manipulating the types of configuration of the moving object, divided the moving object into three types: convex type, concave type and self-intersection type, and explored the influence of acute alcohol effect on the VWM of moving objects of different configurations.Experiment 3 further explored the role of configuration in the acute alcohol effect on the moving object by adding real lines to the moving object to transform the virtual configuration into a real configuration. The study obtained the following results:(1)Experiment 1 found the acute alcohol effect on the visual working memory of the direction of the moving object. The memory accuracy and discriminative power of were lower in the alcohol condition than in the placebo condition.(2)Experiment 2 found that the spatial configuration affects the effect of damage to the memory of the motion object by acute drinking.Under drinking condition, the memory accuracy and discrimination power of the convex objects were lower than the placebo condition while there was no significant difference between the concave and self-contained objects.(3)Experiment 3 found that the difference in the acute alcohol effect on objects with different configuration still appeared in the real configuration. After the addition of the real line, the memory accuracy and discrimination power of the convex object were lower in the drinking condition than in the placebo condition. And the memory performance of the concave and self-contained objects was not affected by alcohol. The study has obtained the following main conclusions:(1)Acute drinking can damage the visual working memory of the direction information of moving object in dynamic scenes.(2)The damage of acute drinking to the moving object will be affected by the spatial configuration, and it is consistent in the virtual configuration and the real configuration: alcohol will damage the memory of the simplest convex object of the configuration, and the complex configuration such as concave and self-contained objects have no effect.
