Apart from the introduction and the conclusion,this paper is divided into four parts to study the Mother archetype in Mo Yan's novels.The first chapter is the exploration of theMother archetype.It first introduces the connotation of the Mother archetype,and then the transformations of the Mother archetype in Mo Yan's worksis presented.The second chapter introduces different kinds ofMother archetypes in Mo Yan's novels,namely the archetype of Gaia,Demeter and Aphrodite.Gaia is a symbol of reproduction and suffering.The mother in Big Breasts and Wide Hips gives birth to nine children and spends her life in the midst of suffering.The mother in Foodusesher stomach to store foodand brings back the food to feed her children.Tenacity in the midst of suffering should be seen as the expression of the archetype of Gaia.The Demeter archetype is a displacement deformation on the motif of "seeking children".Chen Mei in Frogis deceived and madly looking for her child,just as Demeter is trying to find her daughter.Even if the son's exam has failed,Qi Wendong's mother in Joynever gives up looking for her son's way to success.The Aphrodite archetype is the embodiment of beauty and self-improvement.Dai Fenglian who dare to love and hate in Red Sorghum is forced to marry an ugly husband.Sherepresents the negative characteristics in the Aphrodite archetype,the pursuit of love and desire.In pow,however,Yang Yuzhen is a self-reliant and hard-working person who represents the positive characteristics,the expression of self-improvement and ambition.The third chapter is about the symbolization of the mother archetype in Mo Yan's novels.Body symbols,animal symbols and natural symbols are strongly related to reproductive reproduction and life nurturing.Mothersare the individual who nurtures life.Breast and buttocks are the symbol of the Mother archetypeduring the genital worship period.The imagery of animals such as frogs,horses are the symbol of reproduction and vitality.From Chinese ancient GoddessNuwa to the frog,what has not changed is the powerful ability to multiply.They are closely related to the characteristics of the Mother archetype.In the choice of natural symbols,Mo Yan chooses natural symbols with regional and cultural characteristics,sorghum,to represent the Mother archetype.Through analyzing the symbolization of the Mother archetype in Mo Yan's novels,this paper tries toexplore a deep value of the Mother archetype.The fourth chapter is about the aesthetic value of the Mother archetype in Mo Yan's novels.Mo Yan's novels express sincerely the deep eulogy of the mother's nurturing grace.The mother gestates the life and saves the life in the tribulation.Social changes and misery of life cannot overwhelm people's desire for life.Moreover,in Mo Yan's works,there is a deep reflection on the maternal degeneration caused by the development of contemporary society.He praises the release and display of primitive maternity which triggering the dark influence of social development on maternity.
