With the deepening of globalization and the rapid development of economy and technology,the quality of citizens in all countries has improved.The use of foreign languages has become one of the basic qualities that everyone has.English is more and more important in the communication of the world.Its prominent media role is also more important.Looking at English teaching in China,cultivating students'communicative competence is the most important goals at this stage.However,as an important part of communicative competence,writing teaching has attracted the attention of English education practitioners.Western creative writing has been introduced to China in recent years.Fudan University,Peking University and other universities have set up creative writing majors,trying to reform the writing discipline and teaching.For domestic English teaching,there is very little research on creative writing in English writing teaching.Not only that,but there is very little research on the activities of creative writing teaching,which is also a big problem for educators who implement creative writing.Therefore,research on activities in creative writing is very necessary.Based on the current situation of English writing teaching in China and the requirements of the new Curriculum Standards for Junior School English Writing(2011),the author attempts to apply creative writing teaching to the practice ofjunior middle school English writing teaching,and explore the feasibility and effect of the implementation of the activity.The experiment was conducted in the second year of a junior high school in Shenzhen.During the experimental period(3 months),47 participants included in the experiment(20 male students and 27 female students).This class was randomly arranged as an experimental class.From March 2018 to July 2018,the experimental class used creative writing activities to teach creative writing.After the experiment,12 students in the experimental class who belonged to the high and low levels accepted the semi-structured interview implemented by the author.Three research questions are as follows:first,what is the current situation of students' English writing?Second,what effects of creative writing will have on students' English writing?Third,what are the students' attitudes to creative writing?For solving the research questions,the author used the trigonometric method in this study,so both quantitative research methods and qualitative research methods were used to test the effect of activities.The study included experimental methods,scale measurements,and semi-structured interviews.Moreover,the experimental method includes the measurement of students' creative thinking ability and creative writing competence.The author tried to solve the research question by three methods.After data collection,The author uses SPSS 22.0 software to analyze data using paired sample tests.The research has the following findings:1.Creative writing activities improve students' creative thinking ability.Through two tests,students' creative thinking skills have improved.2.Creative writing activities improve students' creative writing skills.The results of three tests show an improvement in students' creative writing competence clearly.3.Through three months of activity training,students' creative thinking ability and writing ability are constantly improved,and to a certain extent,they realized that they have enthusiasm and interests to English writing.
