As one of the foundations of Buddhist theory, the presentation of death in Buddhism is a detailed discussion and practice of death to make people understand their lives better and not fear death. To systematically study Buddhist belief in death,we must trace back to the origin of death beliefs and analyze different interpretations of the views on life, death, reincarnation and karma in different denominations of ancient Indian religions.Though stemming from ancient Indian religious thoughts,Buddhism pays more attention to knowledge rationality. Therefore, the content of the Buddhist view on death is more abundant and its theoretical system is more comprehensive.Among it,the analysis of the classification and process of death by Buddhism is an in-depth explanation of the cognition of death and the meaning of death. The law of interdependent origination runs through Buddhism's deconstruction of death.Buddhist view from the formation of life to death to rebirth is dynamic,multi-level.By searching for the most fundamental causes of death and analyzing the origins of life formation and development,Buddhism is committed to the approach of transcending death and eventually establishes its unique theory of death. This thesis expounds the theoretical connotation of Buddhist belief in death from such concepts as Four Noble Truths,Karma,Samsara as well as Twelve Links in the Chain of Causation and summarizes the characteristics of Buddhist view on death including the affirmation of life value and the equality of death. In turn, thorough study on Buddhist view of death helps people understand Buddhism better. Finally, this thesis refines the enlightenment of the concept of death in Buddhism on the content, significance and methods of modern death education as well as on the implications for hospice care and ultimate concern. With "Life and Death" as the primary concern,Buddhism teaches people to rely on their own introspection instead of external forces to experience life and death,to discover wisdom,to cultivate their minds,to observe all phenomena in the world and to obtain liberation. This process witnesses Buddhism's interdependent origination and sunyata thoughts all the time.Buddhism's method of transcending death penetrates every link of the death process and integrates the thought of deathinto life. The thought of death has become one of the important means to improve life quality and the key to surpass death.Buddhism's attitude toward death is to observe life with the thought of death and return to death itself. That means, being towards death. Therefore,Sakyamuni Buddha is the perfect example of Buddhism course, that is," a religious exploration that begins with the question of life and death and ends with ultimate solution to the problem of life and death."...
