A Study Of String Instruments In Yuanjianleihan

"Yuanjianleihan" was the first official category book of the Qing Dynasty.This book was witten by Zhang Ying at the command of the emperor.lt has a wide range of contents and is well-quoted.The book is divided into forty-five categories."Music"is one of them.There are two chapters devoted to stringed instruments.A large number of relevant documents and materials have been preserved through cited books.These documents and material materials,as well as image materials such as calligraphy,painting and statue,complement each other and are mutually supporting.They reveal the types,materials and shapes of ancient stringed instruments,and also reflect their functions and significance in social life.However,the book has not been sufficiently thoroughly and thoroughly collated and studied.In view of the current research situation,this paper studies the stringed instruments in "Music" from the following aspects on the basis of collating some documents:Firstly,starting from the text of "Music",combined with relevant documents,images and archaeological data,this paper makes a preliminary collation,textual research and analysis of stringed instruments such as Guqin,Ser,Zheng,Zhu,Konghou,Pipa,etc.appearing in this part of the content,and clarifies its origin,rheology,shape,timbre,playing mode and so on.There are few or no existing materials,and there is no unanimous agreement on the origin and shape of musical instruments,such as ser,Zhu,Konghou,etc.in the academic circles.Various opinions and related literature are listed as systematically as possible for reference.Secondly,according to the literature cited in Music,the common materials and decoration techniques of ancient stringed instruments are studied.By summarizing and sorting out,the materials for making stringed instruments can be roughly divided into four categories:plant materials,animal materials,metal materials and other raw materials.Among them,plant materials are the most important materials for making stringed instruments,mostly used for making instruments;animal materials,metal materials and other raw materials are generally used for making musical instrument accessories,body decoration and playing tools.Decoration technology mainly uses four kinds of decoration technology,namely,lacquer,mosaic,painting and sculpture,among which lacquer technology is the basis of other decoration technology.Thirdly,it explores the use of stringed instruments recorded in"Music".According to the relevant documentary records in "Music",we can see that stringed musical instruments,besides their practical functions,also have the functions of reward,tribute,ritual,sacrifice and funeral in ancient social life.They have the functions of enlightenment,self-entertainment,entertainment,emotional expression and talent display.
