Translation is the conversion of two linguistic signs, and mistranslation often occurs in this process.Sometimes it may be a serious grammatical problem, sometimes it involves inappropriate word selection, unclear meaning expression and incoherent sentence structure.Mistranslation is inevitable, even in some masterpieces. This paper is a translation report based on the autobiography The Americanization of Edward Bok by the Dutch American media emperor Edward Bok.The report describes the task background in detail, introduces the autography and its authors, summarizes the process of translation activities, focuses on the definition and types of mistranslation, and also puts forward the solutions to mistranslation. The phenomenon of mistranslation has been paid more and more attention in recent years, and there are more and more articles on mistranslation. The classification of mistranslation can help us fully understand the differences between Chinese and English. And finally, translator's ability can be improved. The analysis of mistranslation is an effective means to understand the differences between different languages in the translation process.Xie Tianzhen divides mistranslation into intentional mistranslation and unintentional mistranslation.Unintentional mistranslation can be divided into three categories: the translator's negligence, the translator's lack of language ability and translator's lack of cultural background. This report summarizes the phenomenon of mistranslation from these three perspectives, and proposes solutions to the problems. In other words,it analyzes the mistranslation from the perspective of context analysis first and then uses some appropriate translation methods. Finally, the report summarizes the experience and lessons brought by this translation practice.
