As an interlanguage interpretation, translation is a kind of communicative act in essence. The debates on translation criteria have been the focal point discussed and studied by linguists. For example, Tytler's 3 principles proposed by a British translator A. F. Tytler,'faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance'advocated by Yanfu, the probe into'minimum standards'of translation in new period, etc. Although there are differences among different translation criteria, their common purpose is to bring out the original meaning without any distortion or casual addition or deletion of the original thought and without any alteration of the original style. In the process of translation practice, there are many mistranslations due to a variety of reasons. Analysis of different mistranslation is a further study of translation criteria and translation skills in theory, and plays a positive role in improving the quality and standard of translation in practice. This paper analyzes mistranslating phenomena appeared in Russian-Chinese translation in different perspectives. It puts emphasis on different aspects such as culture, language, stylistic rhetoric, etc. In language aspect, it mainly analyzes mistranslations of vocabulary, sentence and text. In culture aspect, it starts with cultural differences between two nations and mainly probes into mistranslations in the field of matter, spirit and ideology. In stylistic rhetoric aspect, it mainly analyzes mistranslations caused by different rhetoric styles. And finally, this paper probes into relevant translation strategies in according to different mistranslations.
