The Three-body Trilogy is a very excellent science fiction created by the famous Chinese science fiction writer Liu Cixin.It is a story that tells about the intrusion of the three-body civilization caused accidentally by a radio transmission during the Cultural Revolution.During the centuries-long struggle,human beings discovered the dark reality of the universe and finally they were destroyed under the strike of the universe's dark forest.The Three-body Problem won the73 th Hugo Award and was nominated for multiple awards in August,2015.Besides,Death's End also won the Best Full-length Novel of the Locus award in 2017.In the other word,The Three-body Problem trilogy is a milestone of China's science fiction towards the world.The trilogy attracted adequate attention once published.This not only provides a window for the world to learn about Chinese culture,but also enhances the attractiveness of Chinese language and culture overseas.Translators' unswerving efforts are a major contributor to the popularity of the Three Body Trilogy overseas.The translation of the Three Body Problem and Death's End was completed by the Chinese-American science fiction writer Liu Yukun and the Dark Forest was translated by the American science fiction translator Joel Martinsen,both of whom are prominent translators of science fiction.From the perspective of literary expressiveness,this paper discusses to what extent the English version reflects the Chinese characteristics and the science fiction of the original text,finds out the advantages and disadvantages of the translation,and then puts forward relevant suggestions.Compared to the previous studies which were under the guidance of translation theories or only analyzed a single novel,this paper makes a more systematic,in-depth and comprehensive analysis of the translation features and effects of the English version about the Three body TrilogyThe main body of this thesis is divided into three parts: chapter one,chapter two and chapter three.In chapter one,the paper discusses the science fiction in the English version of the Three body Trilogy from two aspects:science fiction coinages and science fiction scenes,and analyzes the translation methods used by the translators,and then evaluates the advantages and disadvantages of the English version.In chapter two,the author analyzes the Chinese characteristics in the English version of the trilogy from the perspectives of Chinese cultural characteristics and Chinese linguistic characteristics,elaborates the translation methods and evaluates the strength and weakness of the English version.The chapter three compares the translation features of the Three body Trilogy,and analyzes and summarizes the adaptation of the English version of the series.
