| The soaring urbanism has brought a series of environment pollution issues in China.The ecological civilization is gradually coming into view as a substitution of traditional industrial civilization as a solution of ecological problems.As a subdiscipline of new interdiscipline combined with linguistics and ecology,ecolinguistics aims to carry out researches on the ecological consciousness in language from ecology to reveal how the language interacts with the environment.Eco-critical discourse analysis has developed from critical discourse analysis and become one of the main approaches to ecological discourse analysis.It's aimed at giving the criticism to the ecological consciousness and non-ecological consciousness in language in the revealing and explaining how to construct the whole nature's ecological ethics under humans' ecological ethics through language.The smart-eco city is an experimental city which functions as a potential niche in which economic and ecological environment innovation are examined and introduced in a network transferred international context and spatially proximate areas.Chinese smart-eco city projects belong to the introductory texts.They are regarded as important approaches to spread green ideologies and construct ecological consciousness.Under Arran Stibbe's ecolinguistics analysis framework,this thesis sets out to carry out an eco-critical discourse analysis in the chosen 20 Chinese smart-eco city projects.It aims to explore how the linguistic features function to reveal ecological consciousness or non-ecological consciousness in the project plans,how the consciousness is appraised through the frame theory and appraisal theory,leading to form good ecological actions through the construction of ecological consciousness.The data of the study is from an international smart-eco city projects development research report conducted among China,France,Netherlands,Germany and the UK.The whole data is composed of 20 texts covering 6786 words from Chinese smart-eco city report in 2016 in the whole report.There are metaphors of 37 times and metonymies of 49 times with the proportions of 43.02%and 56.98%respectively in the texts.These two types of frame resources reflect that Chinese smart-eco city promotes to natural resource protection and reusing,as well as takes the responsibility of achieving its ecological significance.A number of attitude resources are adopted in the texts with 293 times of which the appreciation takes up the most proportion of 93.17 percentage with 273 times.The great number of appreciation resources are used to show that Chinese smart-eco city is characterized by the efficiency and innovation in environmental protection,pollution reduction and sustainable development.At the same time,it improves humans' living standards in the construction of ecological civilization.Moreover,almost all the resources are positive in the 293 times of attitude resources.As the introductoiy texts,a lot of positive attitude resources are constructing a good image of Chinese smart-eco city.On the one hand,it calls on humans supporting the building of smart-eco city,on the other hand,it will promote the practice of smart-eco city.Such ideologies as ecological development,innovative development and sustainable development should be built up.In the future,Chinese smart-eco city will better perform its urban functions in the practice and achieve green and eternal sustainable development as a result of its ecology and smart.This thesis carries a study on Chinese smart-eco city under Arran Stibbe's ecolinguistics analysis framework.For one thing,it enriches the theoretical studies of ecolinguistics and seeks for a possibility of language constructing the ecological consciousness.For another,it promotes the development and practice of smart-eco city in China.Language constructs humans' ideologies and influences how humans behave in the life.It helps to change the non-ecological consciousness and construct the ecological consciousness in people's minds in the exploration of ecological consciousness in language to the harmonious unification among humans,society and nature.Focused on the theme of ecology and smart,the plans and designs in Chinese smart-eco city projects contribute a lot to Chinese urban construction in terms of the efficiency,innovation and sustainability. |
