Chu culture has a long history and rich connotation,especially witchcraft.As a concrete manifestation of Chu culture,the witchcraft of Chu State not only includes all kinds of witchcraft activities carried out by the witchcraft of Chu State on specific occasions,but also includes various functions related to politics,military affairs,social customs,literature and art of Chu State.This paper mainly focuses on the witchcraft of Chu State and its relationship with early Taoism.The article is divided into three parts to discuss,mainly involving the main activities of the witch custom in Chu and the causes and characteristics of its formation.In the late Spring and Autumn Period,the development of the witch custom in Chu was divided,and its rational part gradually evolved into Taoist thought,which provided the main ideological source for the formation of Taoism later.In the first part of the article,besides sorting out the preacademic history of the subjects studied in this paper,the author mainly defines and discusses the related concepts.The second part of the article mainly discusses the related content of witchcraft in Chu State.Firstly,according to the pupose of witchcraft activities in Chu State,it is divided into four types,and the main activities of each type of witchcraft are discussed.Then the reasons why witchcraft prevailed in Chu state are discussed.The article thinks that there are many external factors besides its own profound social roots,including its natural geographical environment,the influence of Yin and Shang culture and the surrounding minority cultures,and the absorption of foreign language factors.The development of Chu culture is characterized by "learning from the skills of Yixia and striving for prosperity".Therefore,the witchcraft culture of Chu has formed a unique witchcraft culture on the basis of soft and other cultural factors,which is the problem to be studied in the third section of this chapter.Finally,the evolution of witchcraft thought in the late Spring and Autumn Period and its relationship with early Taoism are discussed.The article holds that early Taoism can be divided into Fang Xiandao and Huang Lao Dao,which are influenced by witchcraft.The formation of early Taoism is the combination of witchcraft thought and Fang Xiandao and Huang Lao Dao.
