In 2015,the Education Department of Shaanxi promulgated a policy that the college entrance examination in Shaanxi Province would use the same papers developed by the Ministry of Education from 2016.The biggest change is that listening test would be added in the English subject,and 30 points of listening would be included in the total grade.However,due to the ten-year provincial autonomy proposition,little attention is paid to English listening,and with poor teaching conditions,the majorities of general high schools have ignored fostering students' English listening ability.Therefore,in the context of college entrance examination reforming,how to improve the level of English listening comprehension in a relatively short time would be the problem to be solved urgently in high school English teaching.To solve the problem,the author has studied the English listening teaching conditions of Shaanxi province based on the case of English teaching in Tongchuan.Questionnaires,classroom observations,interviews and a teaching experiment in Tongchuan No.1 Middle School are used to investigate.The study found that the current high school students still have some problems on the aspect of English listening learning.From the previous research,the author has combined some theories about English listening teaching theory and propose effective solutions and teaching strategies.To check the feasibility of the suggestion,the author conducts a teaching experiment by taking different teaching strategies and methods in the two classes at the same school,and made a test and survey after that.Through comparing the results of two classes,it shows that scientific and rational teaching strategies and learning methods can not only greatly improve the English skills,but also effectively improve students' English learning results and interests.Therefore,the proper teaching strategies and methods could effectively eliminate the listening problems.Listening study is a long procedure;listing teaching should not be limited in the classroom,but should be into daily life.Students should learn English by daily life,and put them into practice in order to achieve quality education.
