Plot Research On Calvino’s Novels

Italo Calvino is one of the most influential writers in the western world after the second world war,also an important representative of postmodernism in western literary and art circles.In the nearly 40 years of creative practice,he has been exploring and innovating,and created many literary works of different styles,showing more possibilities of literary creation and development for the world literary circle.At the same time,his novel and theoretical perspectives have also established greater confidence for the future of literature,inspiring a batch of outstanding writers at home and abroad to keep pace with the Times.This thesis takes calvino’s novels in different periods as the research center,combines the connotation and development of plot theory,and emphatically analyzes the plot charm of his literary works.This study analyzes plot features in calvino’s novels from the following aspects: plot structure types,plot expression techniques,plot and character,as well as aesthetic features of plot,and discusses the form skills and spatial structure as well as intertextuality,parody and collage and other plot technique.On the basis of careful study of the text,this paper attemps to comprehensive use of the theory of plot,structuralism and other ideological methods to discuss the plot features and theoretical contributions of his novels,so as to have a deeper understanding of the plot features and narrative charm of calvino’s novels.
