Starting from Aristotle's definition of the plot as the first of the six elements of tragedy,the plot has basically become the foundation of the drama.The art form of drama has been constantly developing and changing since its birth,and the plot itself has changed with the change of the art form of drama.The plot of the tragedy in ?Poetics? is the arrangement of events,and the plot of the drama in ?Aesthetics?is composed of actions,conflicts,and counteractions.Both events and actions are imitations of objective actions.However,in modern drama,actions focus on internalization,and events gradually become fragmented.Changes in basic plot elements such as actions and events,one of which is the change in the principles of plot organization,The plot is no longer limited to presenting a complete action;the second is the change in the causal logic behind the plot,the logic of the plot is no longer It is objective and unchanged,but it is injected with subjectivity,thus showing complexity.With the change of the two,the plot gradually loses its central position in modern drama.Modern drama creation is not a simple drama plot creation.As a result,the plot began to retreat in modern drama.This article selects the works of five modern dramatists as research objects,and discusses how dramatists can abandon the drama plot to achieve their creative goals and realize their personal drama concepts.Through the analysis of the writer's work,study the plot retreat in modern drama.
