| Vocabulary is the basic component of language,and the main carrier of language meaning.Vocabulary learning is of vital importance in language learning.By far,researches have been carried out to investigate and analyze vocabulary strategies used by language learners as well as to increase the efficiency of vocabulary learning from the perspective of language learning and teaching.These researches have been mainly conducted in various schools and education organizations,and the results are instructional in vocabulary learning and teaching.However,few attention has been paid to special and systematic studies on L2 vocabulary strategies.Information Processing Theory reveals the procedure of human brain mechanism and the interrelationships of language,memory and cognition and it is enlightening in the field of Second Language Acquisition.Information Processing Theory is widely applied in English teaching and learning,but few of them covers English vocabulary acquisition.As it focuses on the language acquisition mechanism of human brains,Information Processing Theory could reveal the procedure of vocabulary acquisition,and thus is important in the study on vocabulary strategies.This thesis is established in the background of former studies on Information Processing Theory and the research results of L2 vocabulary.Through reviewing and integrating these former studies,a general model of English vocabulary learning strategies based on Information Processing Theory is integrated and renewed.Therefore,a comprehensible system of English vocabulary learning strategies come into being.This research classifies vocabulary strategies from the perspectives of input,processing,and output,which lives up to the language processing procedure and human brains,working mechanism.At the same time,it is pointed out that this research has a few theoretical implications and practical implications for future studies on English vocabulary learning strategies. |
