A Study Of Wang Xiaodi's Films

As a senior female director in Taiwan,Wang Xiaodi has made great contributions to film,TV series,documentaries,stage plays and other fields.After “The New Film Movement” in Taiwan,she shot a series of films about local Taiwanese stories.Wang Xiaodi has made great efforts and discussions on the transformation from TV drama director to film director in terms of content and form.In the development of Taiwan society in the post-liberation era,Wang Xiaodi's creative trajectory is closely related to the social pulse of Taiwan as a whole.It is necessary to trace her cross-century creation process,explore the humanistic care and aesthetic characteristics of her works in the context of the times,and reveal the artistic value of her texts and her own significance to Taiwanese films.Wang Xiaodi is recognized in the industry as one of the directors who is committed to supporting the younger generation.Her films creation process has influenced countless younger generations in the film industry and her films have won numerous awards at home and abroad.This paper takes the films directed by Wang Xiaodi as the main research object,studies the localization characteristics of Taiwan in the creation theme and theme conception as well as explores its unique features in narrative features and audio-visual style,so as to explore the spiritual core expressed by the director behind the film.This paper combines the creation process and film research of Wang Xiaodi.It is divided into four chapters: chapter one reviews her creation process and discusses four kinds of creation themes based on reality.It analyzes the characters in the movie as well.The second chapter mainly analyzes the narrative characteristics,which is full of comedy elements from two aspects: comedy style and narrative time and space.The third chapter explores the audio-visual style of director her films and summarizes her realistic creation techniques from the perspective of the lens and the expression of harmony painting.The fourth chapter condenses the cultural connotation of her films and summarizes its cultural value and influence on Taiwanese films.
