Since the 21 st century,with the continuous deepening of the curriculum reform,problems in the basic education and talent selection mechanism in China have gradually emerged.Teachers Knowledge Development is facing new problems and challenges.The author analyzes the status quo of knowledge development of English teachers at home and abroad,and points out that there is a certain amount of research space for senior high school English teachers' knowledge development at present.Taking 148 senior high school English teachers in Jiangxi Province as the survey objects.The author investigates the current status of high school English teachers' knowledge development by questionnaire,analyzes the factors that affect the knowledge development of high school English teachers by interview,and explores the ways to promote knowledge development of high school English teachers.Questionnaire surveys mainly focus on six aspects: discipline knowledge,educational knowledge,practical knowledge,general culture knowledge,teachers' knowledge content situation,and teachers' knowledge acquisition ways.The results are as follow:(1)The teachers have unbalanced command of discipline knowledge.(2)The teachers master in-comprehensive educational knowledge.(3)There is a direct proportion between practical knowledge and teaching age.(4)The teachers lay weak foundation of general cultural knowledge.(5)The teachers' knowledge is out of date.(6)The ways of teachers' knowledge acquisition are undiversified.Based on the results of the questionnaire survey,an in-depth investigation of the factors that influence the development of current senior high school English teacher knowledge was be done through interviews.Interviews results showed that:(1)The tendency of exam-oriented education is so serious in senior high school.(2)More attention has been paid in theory than practice in the process of pre-service teacher education.(3)Post-service teacher training lack pertinence and effectiveness.(4)Most of teachers do not have a strong sense of self-development.On the basis of the questionnaire and interview results,the author proposed thesuggestions for promoting the knowledge development of senior high school English teachers from four aspects:(1)The normal universities need to build the characteristics of “normal students”,inform teacher curriculum system and strengthen the education practice.(2)The leaders in the senior high schools need to provide the teachers with more and better opportunities of further learning and communication.(3)The government need to strengthen the management of post-service training,justify training contents and time and check the results of training.(4)The English teachers need to have the ability of promoting of knowledge,reflections of teaching and communication with partners.
