Wu Zuxiang is an important writer in modern literary history,published 20 short stories and one novel,after the founding of new The People's Republic of China,he started studying on classical literature,taught at the Peking University Department of Chinese,never published a novel again,gradually fade out the vision of the critics.Since the new era,critics influenced by Chinese-American writer Xia Zhiqing,had begun to pay attention to this "neglected" realist writer in the history of modern fiction.Based on the era and focusing on the vast rural world,Wu Zuxiang was classified as a "left-wing novelist" because his writing theme was similar to that of the left-wing literature in resisting autocracy,exposing the darkness of society and paying attention to the people at the bottom.After the 1980 s,he was classified as a "social analyst" by "History of Modern Chinese Novels" and later as "the second Generations of native novelists”,on the division of factions still unresolved.The writer positioned Wu as a realist local novelist.From the word "true",explored the delicate and unique relationship between Wu and various factions.Starting from the main part of the thesis,this paper chooses schools such as "Left-wing Literature","Social Analytical School" and "Local Novels" as the breakthrough point,the essence is to discuss the relationship between Wu and the times,society and the May 4th literary tradition,combining Wu's works of corresponding periods and schools,this paper further analyses Wu's works from the aspects of ideological content,creative techniques,narrative perspective,linguistic features and the characters created,and expounds Wu's genuine creative idea of "the works contain true feelings and realities","the enlightenment of literature to the times" and "the truth of writing people and things familiar to him" and his new literature and the significance of history.
