A Study Of Style Evolution Of Lei Wen In Han,Wei And Six Dynasties

The Han,Wei and Six dynasties are important periods in which the concept of literary style came into being.Lei Wen,a kind of ancient eulogy,is a product of combining funeral service,posthumous title,eulogy,inscription and eulogium in the pre-Qin period.During the period of Han,Wei and Six dynasties,Lei Wen gradually developed and had new changes which mainly manifested in the style system and the type of writing.the text as the object,this thesis analyzes the style characteristic and the ideological connotation of Lei Wen in each period of the Han,Wei and Six dynasties.Furthermore,the “original form”and “variant form” occurred in stylistic system,writing style and narrative perspective in Lei Wen will also be elucidated to clarify the history of Lei Wen in the Han,Wei and Six dynasties.Through the analysis of the writing features and style characteristics of Lei Wen in the period of the Han,Wei and Six dynasties,it can be found that the development of Lei Wen is a process from “original form” to “variant form”.The “origin form” is mainly manifested in three aspects: firstly,it is the style system in which the four character verse has become the style of writing in Lei Wen;The second is the writing pattern of combing biographic genre with eulogy diction,beginning by narrating the glorious past of the departed saint and ending by expressing the grief feelings,which is mainly embodied in the genre nature of the classics and the style paradigm of eulogy;Finally,it is the fresh and graceful style and its external performance.The variant of the “original form” is mainly reflected in the following four aspects: first of all,it is the system change which could be seen in the appearance of long preface.The long and non-rhyming prose preface made Lei Wen tends toward secular development;The second is the change of style of writing with the emergence of Lei Wen in Sao style which has a doleful diction and long rhyme,making Lei Wen deviate from the elegant and solemn style;Thirdly,it is the change of style.The two variants in Lei Wen,Lament and Elegy;Finally,it is the change of narrative point of view which transforms the third person into the first person and the second person,out of accord with the style and norm of “original form” of Lei Wen.There are three reasons why the Lei Wen in Han,Wei and Six dynasties changed from “original form” to “variant form”.The first is political and cultural ecology.Changes in the frequent political and external environment make the Lei Wen have a new style in the ideological aspects,such as the emergence of works dedicated to the interpretation of metaphysics;Next is the literature ecology.Han Fu and Sao Style influence the writing and stylistic genre;The third are the psychological characteristics of the literati whose living circumstances have a profound impact on the genre of the works.At the same time,individual life consciousness began to awaken,and gradually broke away from the group consciousness represented by Confucian ethics values since the Han dynasty,showing individual consciousness and individual spirit.
