The Creation, Classification And Transfer Of Lexical Repertoremes In Wuxia Novel Translation Repertoire

The objective of this thesis is to analyze the creation,classification and transfer of lexical repertoremes in wuxia novel translation repertoire.In the primary stage,Chinese wuxia novel translation repertoire is limited in lexical repertoremes.It needs to borrow lexical repertoremes from other repertoires,especially from Western fantasy novel repertoire.As wuxia novel translation repertoire develops,its lexical repertoremes increase continuously and forms its own expression system.Moreover,lexical repertoremes in wuxia novel translation enrich the expressions of Western fantasy novels.Nowadays there are some Western fantasy novels with expressions coming from lexical repertoremes in wuxia novel translation.This thesis,by taking Condor Heroes ?: A Hero Born and The Book and the Sword as cases,analyzes the lexical repertoremes in wuxia novel translation and the contribution to Western fantasy novels.First,this thesis defines wuxia novel translation repertoire,its lexical repertoreme structures and categories.Second,it gives a brief introduction to the making of wuxia novel translation repertoire.Third,it studies the creation of lexical repertoremes by analyzing the translation methods applied in translating culture-loaded words in wuxia novels.There are seven translation methods: word-for-word translating,meaning-expanding,recreating,explaining,transliterating,transliterating+ explaining and transliterating+ annotating.Fourth,on the basis of the study of translation methods,this thesis summarizes lexical repertoremes in wuxia novel translation.There are four kinds of translated wuxia words: wuxia words from transliteration,wuxia words from loan translation,wuxia words from loanblending and wuxia words from loanshift.Fifth,this thesis explores the use of these words in Western fantasy novels,thus studying the transfer of them in Western fantasy novels.Last,this thesis analyzes the controversies involving lexical repertoremes in wuxia novel translation.
