The Influence Of Narrative Structural Integrity On The Processing Of Sequence Images

The appearance of graphics in front of written texts,whether it is ancient murals or graphic stories now appearing in books,highlights the importance of sequence images to human civilization.There are a lot of studies on sequence pictures,but recent studies have compared it with written texts to arrive at a set of grammatical systems that are unique to images.This controversial grammar theory is still in development,and it still needs a lot of experimental data to support.This study uses eye movement technology to analyze sequence pictures,and through accurate experimental data to reveal the complex cognitive activities of reading sequence pictures,that is,how the narrative structure affects the reader's attention.In order to provide a standardized theoretical basis to design and apply sequence pictures.and be widely accepted by the education community.This study consists of two experiments.This study mainly explores the influence of the integrity of the narrative structure on the sequence pictures through two different experimental conditions.Under the original conditions,the arrangement of the frames is completely in line with the normalized arrangement,the plot is sufficient,the narrative structure is complete,and under random conditions,the grids are randomly arranged.In this study,two different experimental operations were used to control the influence of the context.In Experiment 1,we presented the sequence pictures of the two conditions to the subject one by one,and read them by the subject's custom pace,and the participants can only read in the order given by the experiment.In Experiment 2,we presented the subject with a complete sequence at one time,the subjects could read at their own speed and can review them during the reading process to review them.Finally,the study found that:(1)The integrity of the narrative structure affects the reading of sequence pictures.When the picture is confusing and the narrative structure is destroyed,the time for the reader to watch is significantly extended,and more retesting is needed to determine the correctness of the reading.(2)When the narrative structure is complete,the context context plays an important role in the reading of sequence pictures.(3)The research proves Gernsbacher's SBF.The order of picture presentation has a different effect.The first picture at the beginning of the sequence takes more time to read because of the role of “foundation”,which build the foundation of the architecture in the whole sequence.
