Comparative Study Of Book Cover Design Between Lu Jingren And Kohei Sugiura

As the first medium to spread text information,book cover is the carrier of graphics,symbols,text and other elements.The book cover design,especially the traditional paper book cover design is deeply influenced by The Times change.This paper takes the book cover design of Lü Jingren and Kohei Sugiura as the research object,and takes the representative works of book cover design of the same period as the concrete reference basis.By using comparative study,case analysis,image innovation and other research methods,this paper makes analogical analysis on their design concept,element extraction,style characteristics and use materials.Thus it concludes that Lü Jingren and Kohei Sugiura have similarities in the typefaces of local style and the formats of Eastern grid in book cover design;there are differences in the distinction between design concepts and color collocation of the covers;the paper also excavates the comprehensive expression of Lü Jingren's "five senses of beauty" and the innovativeness of Kohei Sugiura's "readable" design.Focusing on the comparative research results,the author has carried out creative practice in his graduation project,the cover design of the Qingdao Folklore book series.In the performance of his works,he has integrated three specific attempts: the innovative concept of the times in book cover design,the continuation of traditional elements and the synchronization of material and paper.Then the paper arouses the thinking about the comparison of Chinese and Western design culture,and strives to improve the designers ' refining ability and innovative techniques for the visual transformation of traditional cultural elements,and finally presents unique features in the book cover design.
