A Comparative Study Of Mother Figure In China And American's Family Drama

This thesis is a systematic study of analyzing the mother images of family drama in China and the United States.Communication theory of this paper is theory of narratology,media representation theory and communication theory of social organization.Chapter one mainly represent the meaning of family drama and describe the development history of family drama in the United States and China,then describe the narrative mode of family drama in the U.S and China.Chapter two is themed on mother images,illustrate comparability examples to express the differences of the family drama between China and America.And the last chapter analysis the reason why the mother images has different in two countries.And the issue of this paper is whether the mother image in TV drama especially the family drama has been stereotyped;has TV media truly reveal the mother image or characterize mother image in the male chauvinism way.Then use feminism theory to interpret the female culture which construct by mass media.In many hit TV series,the construction of female image has lots of problems like stereotypes,etc.Therefore,this paper is standing in feminism way to describe mother images in family drama,and in the ending part will analyze the status of mother under the different social cultural background.
