There was a close relation between Buddhism and Royal Politics in Sui Dynasty.During Kaihuang period,Emperor of the Sui Dynasty(Yang Jian)enthusiastically worshiped Buddha to revive Buddha’s Dharma.Under this situation,people in the Sui Dynasty launched a series of actions to promote Buddhism.Taking this historical background as the foothold of the discussion,this dissertation explores the Buddhist activities carried out by Yang Guang(the next emperor of the Sui Dynasty)in this period and the political intention behind it.Firstly,this dissertation starts with the subordinate groups around Yang Guang,observing the the relation between his tenure and his participation in Buddhist activities.Then find out the starting time and internal motivation of Yang Guang’s Buddhist activities.Secondly,carefully combed all kinds of moves during his reign,such as using Buddhism to gather political forces,gaining support from the social and getting closer with Yang Jian,pointing out his political intentions,at the same time fully explained the important role of Buddhism in it.The third chapter focuses on the Buddhist factors in the political struggle of Kaihuang period.Analyzing the different Buddhist tendencies and strategies of Yang Guang Group and Yang Yong Group,figure put the influence of Buddhism.Finally,the last chapter focuses on Yang Guang’s affirmation and inheritance of Buddhist policy during the Kaihuang period,as well as the trend of closer and wider connection between politics and Buddhism.
