Britain in the 18 th century was the burgeoning and growing period of capitalism. After the rise of the commercial society, especially after the industrial revolution, along with the rapid growth of the economy and the intense concentration of wealth, the merchant class that has become rich has shown many moral defects, and the merchant class that Smith has hoped as a new society has gradually become profitable.Lack of public spirit and moral responsibility. In response to this problem,Smith re-edited and supplemented the content of the conscience part of "Theory of Moral Sentiment",hoping to constrain people's behaviors and feelings through the influence and authority of conscience, thus re-implementing Smith's expectations for new social businessmen: the unity of economy and morality.Smith believes that sympathy is not only the basis for the formation of general moral standards and the basis for moral evaluation.Whether others are compatible with our behaviors and feelings can only be achieved through our sympathy for other people's behaviors and feelings. However, the conscience built on sympathy is not static. With the continuous development of capitalism, the connotation of conscience has changed accordingly. From the very beginning,we only conduct our own actions and feelings through just spectators.Judging, judging the behavior and feelings of oneself based on the inherent requirements of the convinced bystander and conscience. The change of Adam Smith's thoughts before and after is the key to our grasp of the conscience thought.Through the overall analysis of the conscience thought, the important influence of conscience on people's behavior and feelings is explained.Although his conscience thoughts have many shortcomings,in terms of the social environment at that time,it is already in line with the process of social and historical development. His conscience thought not only provides a psychological basis for the development of later normative ethics, but also for capitalism. The development of the market economy has had a profound impact. In short,in this materialistic society,we need to reach a unified standard for judging people's behaviors and feelings. When each of us judges others and their actions and feelings according to the requirements of our conscience, each of us will become the most lovely person, and this society will become more harmonious and beautiful.
