A Project Report On E-C Translation Of The First Chapter Of Python For Kids For Dummies

This translation report is based on Python for Kids for Dummies' Week 1.The book introduces programming beginners how to program with Python in a straightforward language.The translator used Antconc and Readability Analyzer 1.0 to analyze the source text and found that the source text has the characteristics of logical and professional,but the language style is informal.The theory used in this translation task is translation universal.The translator improves translation efficiency and accuracy,and solves some translation difficulties,such as title translation,term translation,company name translation,product name translation,understated meaning translation,personal pronoun translation,sentence structure,and language style from three aspects of simplification,explicitation,and normalization.According to this translation project,the translator finds that parallel titles should be with same rule-based syntax by making up the omitted information,abbreviations should be explained or be followed by its full name,company names should be translated with its profile,hidden information should be spelled out,complex and vague sentence structure in the source text should be translated into a simpler one,the referred-object of pronoun should be pointed out.Besides,the language style of the translated text should be similar to that of the target language.However,there still exist some problems to be solved,such as translationese,company names' official translation and Chinese version screenshot.
